I LOVE these bibs, I use them all the time and they are especially handy when you’re on the go as you don’t have to worry about laundry, just wash them in the sink and they’re clean.
Help answer the question about Organic Pet Products
This is not a question, just an observation the recall.?
I just read about the latest recall on dog biscuits and some high-powered executive was quoted as saying something to the effect of "Other than these products that have been recalled, you are perfectly safe feeding your pet any food on the market. There are no other recalls planned at this time/that we know of." Don't they say this after EVERY recall they have made? First, Organic Pet Products it was only canned food and food with gravy. Then, they recalled some dry food. Next, it was jerky treats. Now, they've recalled a bunch of dog treats/biscuits. What's next? If you ask me, I don't know if ANY of these products are safe for our pets. I don't think they really know what contaminant is the culprit, so how can they know exactly what foods to recall? This is tooooo scary! I switched to Solid Gold "Just a Wee Bit" natural/organic food and just quit feeding my dog treats. She is a little confused about the no-treat thing, and I feel just awful, but what else are we supposed to do?Jo, you said you make some of your own treats. Would you mind sharing your recipes or give me the website where I can find them? I've seen some but I would really like to use recipes that someone (like you) have actually tried and like. Thanks!

I’ve never had an oriole feeder before. When I purchased this one and hung it up, it tipped to the side and leaked. So I modified the end of a half-inch diameter pole that I already had and mounted the feeder onto the pole. That took care of the tilting problem. Then I had ants crawl up the pole and fill the feeder. So I modified a hanging ant guard into a pole-mounted ant guard. That took care of the ants. Then, LO AND BEHOLD, I had an oriole come and feed………off of my HUMMINGBIRD feeder. A couple of times he sat on this oriole feeder and looked at it but he didn’t know what to do with it. He must have moved on because I only saw him for a day. Then I decided to take a black sharpie marker and color some very small round ‘faux’ or fake feeding holes over the slits in the rubber orange slices so that if I got another oriole he might know what to do with the feeder and stick his beak into the slit opening thinking it was a round opening like the hummingbird feeders have. The trick did eventually work………with a hummingbird. She came and had a good look at it and was fooled, she drank from the oriole feeder and I have photos to prove it (see the image gallery for this product). So….I’m still waiting on an oriole to feed from this feeder. Sheesh! what a pain!

This is not hard plastic like most. It is softer and won’t break so easily. Great product and it has plenty of room to add grape jelly which the Orioles love. I highly recommmend this product.

This is a bad idea all together. It’s impossible to fill, the little wedges for orange slices don’t work right, if it rains it dilutes the solution and you have to start over, it doesn’t hang quite straight, you can’t clean it without taking it all apart… And last of all I have yet to see an oriole go anywhere near it, they are still using our hummingbird feeders instead.

Unfortunately this Oriole feeder did not work – the Orioles were attracted to it but weren’t able to eat from it. I have another birder friend who got the same negative result. I recommend the Perky Pet 449-2 which the Orioles love and its easy to refill.

Unfortunately this product does not work in a windy area. The feeder blows easily and the sticky food ends up on the ground. I have had more success with the bottle type feeders for orioles.

I have found this product works well in controlling my soil ants from invading my house. I like the fact that it is not harmful to animals and or wildlife as I, also, use it outside.

I have only used this to kill ants. Does it work? Absolutely. The trick is to spray enough to make them wet. They will die quickly. To keep them from coming back, the area must stay wet, don’t wipe it up. When I first used this, I made the mistake of wiping it up after a few minutes as instructed and they always came back as soon as it was wiped up. Spray along the wall into the crevices where they are crawling in and they will not use that route to get in.
Porous surfaces are the best places to use this. For example, ants were attacking the water in the water bottle of my hamsters’ cage (it’s hot outside). I put the cage on some chux pads (absorbant pad on one side and water repellent plastic on the other), sprayed all around the cage. The ants kept coming in looking for water, but they can’t get to the cage. They are all over the desk where my cage sits, but the cage is ant-free.
On more than one occasion, I’ve had an army full of ants in my dog’s 5 gallon tin of dog food. I simply spray the container all around the exterior, killing all ants it immediately contacts and any ants unfortunate enough to cross the wet path. All other ants are repelled and run in circles within the container and on the lid to eventually all die. Ants outside the perimeter are left to find another food source.
The gallon size Orange Guard container comes with a manual spray pump attached by a thin flexible hose. I thought I’d be using it to refill my quart size bottle, but the spray handle is handy. I don’t have to pour it out into a smaller bottle. Beware to shut off the spray nozzle before storing it. I neglected to do that and the Orange Guard leaked through the pump all over my laundry room. You know how those manual vacuum hoses they use to clean out fish tanks work? That’s what happened with the Orange Guard.
Orange Guard is the only ant killer spray I use in the kitchen. It can get messy, but it works; and I don’t worry so much about the kids and the dog. I do have one word of caution: this spray smells like strong citronella. Do not use it if you are sensitive to such fragrant scents.

UPDATE: The nozzle this came with eventually stopped working. I had to toss it and pour the Orange Guard into a smaller Orange Guard sprayer bottle.
